Re: Redneck Killer Bug Tutorial (an earth worm for Earth Day)

Ray, As a worm drowner from way back, I see nothin' wrong with the colors in the wet picture. That looks amazing. There is a small lake about an hour north of me, where we go to sit on the bank and catch baby catfish. Nothing we can keep, but it's still a blast. My wife will only fish with worms, an...

Re: BWO Softhackle SBS

Nice! I will start incorporating that dark wing-case into a few patterns. I like the look of that. I have not really noticed a "Good" side and "Other" side to a pheasant tail. Your's shows a much more distinct color difference than the few I have. I must have just have gotten luc...

Re: Dave Whitlock's North Country Spiders

This is great! One of the problems I have is figuring out what a hackle looked like before it was wrapped on the hook. This gave me a chance to study the before and after and do a "this goes here and that ends up there..." comparison. Thank you for posting it. I'll have to go buy a print f...

Re: Lingren's Olive SBS

Thanks, Scott. This one should appeal to my little panfish buddies. Can't wait to wrap a few and try them out.

Re: The Old Man

I don't know about just the mask, but my local Gander Mountain carries (carried? It's been a while sins I've been in the store. They no longer carry tying materials.) complete skins over by the hunting equipment. They had fox, coyote, skunk and badger the last time I looked. Seems like they were 25 ...

Re: DIY Project / Bobbin Modification to Use Guttermann Spools

Like you, I had bought a couple of spools, but never used them because of the size of the spool. I made a few flies, tying it in as a material, but I don't remember much about it. How is it to tie with? Looks like I will have to dig them out of whatever hole they are moldering in.

I agree, Doug! I'm going to cobble a few together and add 'em to my box to try.
(IF I ever get to go fishing. It went from too cold, to the creek running 12' above normal.)

Re: A good day. Partridge and Orange Thorax

Thanks, Carl. That's the first time I've seen reference to the "new" Pearsall's. I haven't heard any comparisons. It's probably my monitor, but the thread on this one looks more of a dark tan or light brown than the Orange usually does. Bill, I was just too lazy/tired/ready to go to bed to...
