I tie all feathers by the butt, then wind them from eye to hook gap. After some wraps od thread, to trap the surplus feather, thread goes through hackle winding (cross wraping it) and final wraps comes just beihnd hook eye.

Rabbit's foot hair are somewhat shorter and finer compared to hare's foot hair. And hare's foot is somewhat larger than rabbit's. Basically, it is not dramatically different and both could be used for same purpose. And, there are no two animals identical. I'm not sure, but seems (to me) that snowsho...

I use hare foot underfur as dubbing component. So, it' not rabbit, it common European hare's foot. And I discard long and coarse and guard hair, and use only middle and base layer of underfur as dubbing. Usually, I use hare's foot underfur as 1/3 of dubbing mix. Doing this for some years.
