Local Soft Hackle Fly
This is a local soft hackle fly that a friend of mine showed me a while back. They call it the tooty fruity and for me it works best in the evening. When tying these, I pre-make a dubbing rope with primrose silk and dubbing (blonde/red). Hook: #18 Dohiku barbless Thread: UTC ultra thread 70 Denier Y...

Re: BWO
daringduffer,
That fly is tied on a Mustad R50U-94842 and I personally like a hook with an upturned eye. I mainly fish tailwaters and need to tie on small hooks.
Thanks,
Otto

I took some more pictures today with better lighting and a few different backgrounds. Overall, fishing was pretty good.

BWO
Dear all, I hope everyone is keeping safe during these challenging times. It's been a while since I last posted but this morning I tied a few #18 BWO soft hackles in hopes of fishing tomorrow. So far, fishing is not completely shut down in my area. Sorry for the picture quality but I just used my iP...

Re: Switch Rods ?
Bob, I am not an expert but can tell you what I use for fishing wee wets on a switch rod. Mainly, I am fishing the tail waters of the South Holston and Watauga Rivers, using flies down to a #18. The switch rod that I am using is an 11' 3wt rod from Bob Meiser. For me, Scandi lines are best for casti...

Re: Caddis
tie2fish,
Yes, the flies were the same as pictured previously but a few of the fish took a variation of that fly and I will post a picture of it in the next day or two.

Re: Caddis
Hank,
I fish that area quite a bit and it is an excellent smallmouth fishery. You are correct in saying that some of that water is exciting to say the least.
