Re: Humpy Flymph
Short shank hook ... will minimize (hopefully) the exposure to trout teeth. This is not point that I had previously considered. Will a short shank hook help here? This is not the same, but on salt water flies, I've deliberately used a long hook shank and tied the materials in near the tail so that ...

Re: What is a Flymph?
So a basic Flymph is a wet fly with a dubbed body and soft hackle collar?? That's how Hidy tied his flymphs. For purposes of this forum, "flymph" is probably defined as any wingless wet. What are all the other flies? Such as a soft hackle that consists of a silk body and soft hackle colla...

Re: Which would you like in a swap?
I usually do not tie tails on my wingless wets, however I do like the look of #2 much better. What he said. Also, since my waters are your waters, if you're going to imitate one of our March Browns, I'd go a hook size or maybe even two larger. (I did actually see a few March Browns on the GP last y...

Slant # 3. There's more possibility for range of motion; I'm not always fishing on the swing.

"Like i told you before upon Culloden moor Where the brave Highland army was killed. Prince Charlie Stuart was my true love's name and he was the flower of England and a pride to his name. ah but now they have banished him over to Spain and so dear was my Charlie to me." -- Steeleye Span T...

Re: Hello and Question
Hello All, I've been looking at the Grey's Streamflex 10' 3wt. Does anyone have any experience casting or fishing this rod? Any comments on rod action or suitability for this style of fishing? I have the 9' version. I've only fished spiders with it, and find it very suitable. The 10' version is pro...

Re: Royal Softy
Nicely executed.
It's such an obvious idea, I'm sure somebody must have done before, but didn't think it worth taking the time to write about.
Thanks for taking the time.

Re: Olive Stalker
There are two insects in North America called a green drake. The eastern green drake (epemera guttalata) is for all intents and purposes the same as the danica. The western green drake (drunella doddsii) is considerably smaller and greener, and a crawler, not a burrower.
