Re: Horsetail Twisted Bodied Soft-hackles
Admiring these (and William's other flies) is what led me to this forum. Looks to be a tough material to work with. The coiled hair (and I'm wrapping untwisted single ones) stores energy (much like a loaded fly rod), and it is quite happy to rapidly and violently uncoil like the spring it is. So, wh...

Re: Lady "Ringneck"
Photo posting limits? Just reread the regs and didn't see any mention of that. If there is a hosting limit, one can always upload to http://tinypic.com/ or elsewhere for free, fairly unlimited hosting. http://i56.tinypic.com/21ahiyf.jpg Lake Murray, Oklahoma Anyway, it's always nice to see pretty fe...

Re: Orange Fish Hawk Variant
Colourful, flashy, and seasonally appropriate. (Happy Halloween, and Feliz Dia de los Muertos.) The light markings on the hackle echo the body colouration.

Re: Scuds
One wonders if the soft hackle is taken for a scud or whether the fly just appears ambiguously, irresistibly edible, a masterpiece of minimalist impressionism.

Re: Heart of Darkness
Upstream/downstream histrionics are pretty meaningless to folks who fish stillwater 96% of the time and to those who do not have trout within 200 miles or wild, self-sustaining trout within a much broader radius than that. Are we okay with spiders aimed at say, bluegill and green sunfish? How about ...

Colouration calls to mind that of the American woodcock (Scolopax minor).

Re: Treasures from Trash—Lifetime synthetic dubbing supply
Good eye, and no need, likely, to buy it. I've actually seen tumbleweeds of this material rolling down the streets in the urbanized New West (US). Keep an eye out on the curbs (or, sadly, vacant lots), especially on trash days or moving days, for soft furniture—recliners, sofas, pillows, couch throw...
