I was so busy admiring the abdomen on the top right fly that it took a few minutes to realize they weren't all the same pattern.
Is that micro tubing on all of them? These would work well down here.

Re: Tying Quirks.......
I had a round fluorescent gooseneck light that had a magnifying glass in it. I tried tying thru it, but i couldn't get both eyes to focus thru it at the same time. It made me dizzy. Eric, That base is pretty. I wish I had room for something like that. Maybe when my boys (finally) leave home, lol. Kirk

Ray, It's the Dix tying table. Mark Hanni was kind enough to modify his design a bit to accommodate the Danvise. He made the bar on the front deeper. the clamp has a 1 1/8" throat on it. I have further modified it by cutting off all of the little flimsy posts and replacing them with longer 3/16...

Re: Tying Quirks.......
Doug, My first real vise was a cheap kit vise. kinda like a Thompson "A" knock-off. It had a small hole drilled thru it about halfway down the shaft. I took some malleable stainless steel wire I had, doubled a piece over and stuck the ends thru the hole far enough to wrap around the shaft....

JStockard provided the following: http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg176/07sgt2442/Flys/2015%20Flies/IMG5502-R.jpg Not truly a Brahma, but nicely speckled feathers, none the less. I REALLY like the grey. Gonna be tying during the football games today. I'll see if anything comes out as share-worthy...

Re: Sulphur Spider
That's a beautiful little spider. I'd even be willing to bet my little panfish friends would take a liking to it, too.

KOOLAID! http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEfall02/FEATdyedwool.html It's pretty kool, actually. OK. I'll quit now. Mostly the trick is finding the colors/flavors you want. Don't forget to get a bottle of Vinegar to use as a mordant. And no metal pans. Metal can affect the color. Somehow. http://i...

It's hideous I tell you. Hideous. Any of them you have already made, you need to throw in a box and send way down here to Texas.
I really like this color combination and the taper on the body.
Kirk.

Re: dubbing "Grinder"
I had to cut all of the material to about 1/4 inch long. I had it get wrapped around the shaft when I first started playing with it, but I had some rabbit guard hairs in there that were probably 3/4 inch long. That was what got wrapped up. Once I cut everything smaller, it worked real well. Here is ...
