Seal's Fur sources
Just a wee reminder, baby seals shed their white fur two weeks after they are born, just before they take to the water for the first time. They leave it on the beach, where it is collected for cleaning and dyeing and then is sold as dubbing. No seals are killed in the process. Mature seals fur is u...

Re: Mole Dubbing Substitute?
Mole is one of the best dubbings for small wet or dry flies. Over here mole skins are cheap and easily available. Natural Mole is a darkish grey dun on the skin and lightens slightly when scraped off the skin. http://www.cookshill-flytying.co.uk/ I can reccommend Cookshill as a source for many of t...

Re: Donald-Hooks
I had quite a bit of info on straight-eyed short shank hooks on my site. I will get it collected together in one and post it on here or
as a .pdf for e-mailing. I will get back soon.

Re: Fur thoraxes on vintage flies
A very good string this :) :) :) :) Also, comparing pictures from older books, pre-internet illustrations. This is where I particularly liked books by Skues, Leisenring, Lawrie etc, which can be blown up and scanned with modern digital scanners and much more information extracted from quite old pic...

Donald Nicholson's Wet Fly Compendium
I have sent a flash-stik to Ray containing some files in a .pdf form. If II have not replied to a request for an attachment, this is the reason for the lack of replies. I sent it a week or two ago and Xmas may be delaying it. If the copy is successful, hopefully they will be posted on the Fishing C...

Re: Pict
A very nice fly. Trout are tempted by olive/green flies. Hank! Blue works well with migratory trout. May be worth a try with Steel-head. To quote actor Jimmie Logan in the film "Carry on Cleo" - 'ye wanted tae meet a Scot and ah wus Pict. One of the most dreadful puns perpetrated an unsus...

Re: Flies of H. C. Cutcliffe
I had an article on H. C. Cutcliffe, on his flies and techniques on my web site, I hope temporarily(?) off line. I still have a pdf file based on that article. If anone gives me an e-mail address here in personal mail file, my main e-mail address is choc-a-bloc with about a years worth of un-answer...

I like it, what we'd call "a braw wee flee". Should be a sure fire catcher.
