Re: Red Fox Squirrel Hair Nymph
I believe this is the critter that you would tie one of these flies from. This one in particular may be reduced to dubbing soon. He, or one of his friends decided to take up residence under the hood of my wife's car recently. Probably seemed like a nice place to live considering the below zero temps...

Fur Supplier
Hey guys, one of the girls that I work with sent me a link to this website. She does some work with bleaching deer skulls and wild life art. I have not used them yet but it seems to be an option for furs and fur faces for our soft hackled flies. Their fur faces and scrap fur grab bag seem very reaso...

I really like that fly. If I was naming it , I would call it "The Catcher".

Barry, I'm not familiar with your ironwood. Here in Michigan we have 2 species that are commonly called ironwood. One genius is Carpinus..common name "Hornbeam" . The eaves are similar to a beech, and the other genius is Ostrya...common name "Hop Hornbeam. The hop hornbeam flowers loo...

Re: quill body hot spot scores
Soft hackles definitely are the ticket at times. I watched my oldest son last spring pluck a beautiful brown with a GRHE with a partridge hackle from a pool that 2 guys thrashed for a half hr with dry flies. 2nd cast, 15 feet quartering upstream, on a dead drift. The fish was 15". Proud dad and...

That would be nice, thinking Osage Orange would be pretty also. I have a piece from a broken long bow around here somewhere. I'll have to find it.

Great Fly Bill!
It would work well on my streams for sure. Where's the like button anyway?

Re: Merganser and Jasper
DD,
you mention Jasperized. I think that's what this thread is. I believe it's two strands of some orange version of Gossamer with one Black strand. I picked up a spool of it a few years ago and haven't tied with it. I'll have to dig it out and untwist a bit of it.

Bill, the Jasper silk is a great complement to the color of that feather. Beautiful tie as usual. What size is the hook that you used on that one?

Re: Team of flies but no droppers.
I would love to see the tutorial as well. I would also love to learn the method of getting my collars to sweep back along the length of the fly as Dana shows in his box . I try to press the hackles rearward and they still point outward somewhat. C'mon Theroe , what's the secret? They look too fishy ...
