Re: How do you afford..?

You come accross a pattern you wish to tie, one ingredient is missing, a material you never used before. You research and ultimately beg, borrow steal or buy it. Eagerly u await its arrival. Carefully you examine it and tie the pattern with shaking hands, eager to assimilate the qualities of the mat...

Re: Woodcock and Silver Wire - Submerged

I have always enjoyed seeing patterns submerged. I also like seeing them when they are photographed wet (out of water). I am not trying to be negative, but what is it that we learn from these pictures? If there is no current pushing the hackle back over the fly, or sweeping the dubbing material tow...

Re: Iron Blue variations

Very nice - and a topic that has me intrigued for years as I rarely encounter a decent IB hatch more than a few times a season which means it has been difficult for me to crack and all the more fun for that reason. I have had some successes this year on what mike c called a bailies purple - basicall...

Re: Saturday Morning

Very nice indeed, lovely report, havent landed anything over 15" this season , so seeing those makes me a litle envious. I also got out on Sunday, we hold an interclub competition each year for all clubs on my lcoal river and try and raise some money for charity. Anglers are paired off and fish ...

Re: IRISH PATTERNS

Laurence, if there is a single type of fishing where it stands out that the skill of the angler far outweighs the minor details of the fly it is Irish Lough Style. Not to say pattern and its design is not important for it patently does matter. As in all areas of fly fishing, there are more flys to c...

Re: Grouse and Bracken Twist 1120

I swear, william -- you're a regular classic-producing machine. Bill, you should have more sense, encouraging such lazy tying , yarn... way too easy to work with for men of such undoubted skills. They should be sentenced to three months of dubbing with adult seas fur..... off course we all know wha...
