Johnno, I really haven't begun to dive into the classic hook pool yet. My tying currently is using staple hooks for a purpose of either staying in the film or going a bit deeper with nymph hooks and copper wire ribbing to fish a bit deeper. I would love to sample some of the hooks but dont know what...

Ok, so being a complete newby at stripped quills. They appear to be flattened somewhat. I have stripped a few at home and they seem to be very round at the tip flattening somewhat toward the tip. Here is a pic describing what I am seeing. It seems that toward the eye, the quill changes shape similar...

They show up fine for me in the link as well. Great photos Ray. Those smaller trout always seem to have a chip on their shoulders for sure. They are true acrobats as well.
