Re: Soft Hackle Streamer
The hackle is tyed in by the tip (at the V-notch) and then doubled back over the tying thread, to lock it in place. I then grasp the butt end of the feather in one hand, and fold the hackle over the step before wrapping. Wrap the folded hackle feather forward until you get to bare stem. Secure with ...

Hank - I think it is for legal reasons. I do not think New York state fishing regs allow tandem hooks, but I could be wrong... William - BRAVO!!! Holy smokes man, those are incredible. Remind me not to let you fish ahead of me at Roscoe. I have a strong feeling that I would be fishing barren waters....

Re: Soft Hackle Streamer
Great point Tom. I was going for the slimmer profile and had not thought about the action of the fly. Marabou is an inherently soft material, so it already has a lot of action in the water. I need to try to fish some with both types of construction to see if I have a preference. For now, I lean towa...

I bet you the hook is a Mustad 3906. That barb has got to be a Mustad hook. I know they are not fish friendly, but I love the look...
Great fly, William, and no doubt that it is a seriously effective fly. Very harmonious color combination, by the way. It has a certain zen quality to it.

Re: My personal favorite fly.
Wow, the markings on that trout are beautiful! I am glad you shared your favorite fly with us. I bet I will not be the only one tying copies of your pattern, in hopes of having similar success. Thank you!

Re: Soft Hackle Streamer
Tom - I am aware that Jack insisted on tying in by the stem. I have tried his method, but found I preferred the results better when I tyed in by the tip. The hackle just seems to lay down better for me and I had less problems breaking off the marabou plume when it was being wrapped when tyed in by t...

Jeff - I am curious about the name "Worm Fly". The way you describe it, makes me think this rig used to be baited with a worm. Is this correct?

Re: Moldy Plum Revisited
Hey Jim - I had a chance to play around a little more with the brushable UV resin and I am liking this stuff. Today I was playing around with a synthetic version of a Thundercreek Minnow. I like being able to give the head a thin coat, zap it with light to cure it, add the eyes, zap it again, and th...
