Re: Rust Belt and Ice Peacock (repost)

Aaron, Incredible looking flies! I love their sparsness and so wonderfully tied. Furnace.....what a great color combo all in one feather. I've been noticing lately a sort of mild resergence of the pattern "Greenwells Glory" and all it's variations. Everyone, please put forth your best G.G....

To Jerry & Ruard, Thank you both for this boost of confidence. Jerry, don't make me unleash the beauties that you sent to me. I cannot put into words how utterly delicate and beautiful your patterns are....so I guess that I will have to get into the photography thing a.s.a.p.! Ruard, your kind g...

Re: A little different approach....

Dearest Ray, Yes, I have gotten the hint! I am hoping Santa will look upon my low estate and grant me a big, fat digital monster with all the bells and whistles..... or at least have macro-photography abilities! I'll see what I can do about a picture or two a.s.a.p. I didn't realize there were so ma...

A little different approach....

Dear Friends, With the cooler weather finally making a showing in our Ohio River valley, I have been tying a little bit more and spinning flymph bodies a little bit more also. Until I get the hang of it and become alot more consistant, here's how it's been working out. I spin the flymph body first a...

Re: IT IS AMAZING WHAT YOU COME ACROSS IN OLD BOOKS....

Philip, Thank you! This stuff is amazing! How do you come up with these great books? Please don't tell me that you found them in a yard sale! (remember Mrs. Dougsdens promise of when I kick off). The article was really great but just a smidge hard to read. I could not magnify or enlarge it to save m...

Re: Red & Brown Spider

Andrew,
Simply elegant! The years have taught us all that the more sparsley dressed the pattern,
the better they kill. This one is beautiful and in my home waters it would kill well.
Teach me thy ways.....

Philip, About posting the snip from the newspaper about eyed hooks vs. gut....that would be fantastic as well as historic! I can't wait until you find it and scan it and post it and all that other stuff (kinda ran on there didn't I?). I hope that when you insert your notes into this book, please rem...

Dear D.D., (that happens to be my initials.. DD), I looked at Roger Woolleys Iron Blue and it seems a bit....Woolley or Wooley. But, that doesn't mean it wouldn't be just as killing as one with shorter hackles. It's almost like a miniature Spey pattern and I want to confess that I know very little a...

Re: IT IS AMAZING WHAT YOU COME ACROSS IN OLD BOOKS....

Dearest Philip, The book and it's "notes" are truly wonderful and a fascinating read. I want to thank you for posting the pages. You did a good job! I was wondering about my own little collection and the pages I have underlined and hi-lited in her books thru the years. More so these that a...

Re: looking at chickens....

To Jerry & everyone, Your comments (esp. yours Jerry with noses pressed against the cages!) and pictures (thanks Ray!) really made my heart happy. There is a grain of truth for all of us who tie about being on the lookout for feathers all year long. I was trying to figure out how to pluck just o...
