Re: Partridge and Pine Squirrel 1130

Nice fly I think I would fish it in Fox Squirrel and brown phase Partridge as well. 8-)

Re: Dr. Lyte Palmer

gingerdun,

Beautiful fly! :D

If you don't want to counter rib for durability, you might like to try the technique of old Atlantic salmon Fly tyers. Let the peacock and palmnered hackle wraps lie tight up against the Oval Tinsel which will then provide a little more protection.

Beautiful fly!

Judging by my favorite bugs that I grab and imitate around home if anything you are fishing a skinny little OC. ;)

Re: pheasant tail soft hackle

Great fly!

Salon coloring was an integral part of the hair/hackle insert craze that ruffled the feathers of many dry fly tyers. For some selling their select skins to the hair shops or on ebay was a goldmine. ;)

Re: And More March Browns

Thank you Donald, great flies!

As your last link shows, the Pheasant Tail bodied soft hackles are excellent flies for March Browns and have been one of my go to patterns for years. :)
