Re: Soft Hackled PT

Greg, I have to agree about the Wholesale Fly Company's hooks. Quality hooks at a bargain price. I use their beads as well.

Re: Different Techniques

Bob, it is another arrow in my quiver, and I am happy to have it there. A HARD cross current movement has accounted for most of my 100 fish days. Most if not all of those fish, on occasion were 12 inch and smaller Browns. As Stalin once said "quantity has a quailty all its own". Not being ...

Different Techniques

I watched this video a few weeks back. I had a chance to try it a few evenings ago. April is not really Soft Hackle season in Western Colorado. I still managed a few, including a fat 16 inch Bow. Re: Coq n' Copper

I would urge you to post a pattern every so often. Especially patterns that you have success with.

If another swap comes along, please join it. Your pattern will not be judged, just admired, no matter your skill level.

By the looks of the pattern you posted, it is obvious you have advanced skill.

Re: Bird's Nests color combos

Here is some information on Bird’s Nest fly https://singlebarbed.com/2007/08/25/birds-nest/ In the article it says he used maple sugar RIT dye but I think he may have meant maple brown sugar. https://www.ritdye.com/color-formulas/maple-brown-sugar/ Maybe this was developed after Cals second formula...

Re: Tying Wax

Does wax reduce the translucency of silk? Leisenring felt it did because on his tup’s nymph he stressed that the untaxed buttonhole twist body be tied on a bare hook. Wax doesn’t reduce the translucency of dubbing even though the silk thread is waxed, I never gave a thought to wax reducing a dubbin...
