Re: Wingless Callibeatis

Carl,

Excellent fly and dressing as usual. Love the ostrich herl for the tail and body. I've been using some dark grey in a few flies lately.

Re: A Little Muddy.....

DD, Even though we've had three very nice days, our rivers are still blown out. Just when it looks like they'll clear and drop, we get more rain or the snow pack starts to melt off and muddies them up again. Our ski areas are looking to stay open til mid June, so we may have high and off color water...

Re: Richard Collier pattern

CB,

Very nice looking flies. Is the brown hen hackle wound through the thorax or just wrapped behind the grouse?

Re: Partridge and Roy 1110

William,

I also got your joke and thought it funny. There may be those who are not familiar enough with Roy's dressings to get it.

Ray,

Thanks for the heads up on this. I hit Abe Books and placed an order from a store right down the road from my house. Unfortunately, I'm still in Idaho Falls and a long way from home so an on-line order was the way to go.

Re: Partridge and Roy 1110

William, Nice dubbing blend, very Roy-like. I had a nice discussion today with a guy who specializes in tying flies for spring creeks. He hand blends his dubbing using at least 6 colors for each fly. His thoughts are that the presence of many colors means life, only dead things are one color. No mat...

Re: Fishing?

All of the rivers around home in Washington are blown out, very high and brown. On our trip to Idaho Falls through Oregon and southern Idaho, not a single river was in shape to fish. Even the Grand Ronde was off color (brown, not the delightful steelhead green) and high. Looking out of the hotel win...

Re: Golden Hare's Ear

Carl,

Very nice. Nice buggy, translucent appearing body, and the Plover matches the color well.
