Re: New Spider Hooks

Okay, I just placed an order for some of the new hooks in sizes 12 and 14, along with some mole dyed in some nice colors.

I guess I'm just a tackle tart at heart.

Just beautiful, every one of them. You achieved a wonderful color with the picric dye. Just lovely.

Re: New Spider Hooks

NCA,

Those are beautiful! Thanks for sharing them. Can you tell if the leader is horse hair or silk gut? Just curious as to what material it is and how translucent it becomes when wet.

Maybe because I'm only half Colonial that I like the looks of that Classic Spider Hook. Can't wait to get my hands on some.

Re: New Spider Hooks

After looking at that hook a couple of different times, I must admit it's growing on me. Nah, I actually like the look of it and will probably try a few. Now if they were just blind eye. I have some silk gut and horsehair that needs some hooks.

Re: Dubbing blends for Leisenring/Hidy style flymphs?

Fortunately, I have friend that's a furrier. I get a lot of his scraps. Skunk is really nice to work with (no smell). Have you guys checked out Moscow Hide and Fur? Here's their Skunk page. http://www.hideandfur.com/inventory/7370.html

Re: Flies from the swap

w-h,

With the prospect of spending time with just one great man or woman from all of history and gleaning their knowledge, it would have to be my Dad. He passed way to young and I miss him every day. He's the one who taught me to hunt and fish, two pursuits that have served me well.

hank,

Your saying reminds me of a T-Shirt my buddy wore after being in Iraq. "I'm from Bomb Disposal. If you see me running..try to keep up!"
