Ah yes, the Metolius in Oregon.... I go there to fish... the Crooked River to catch fish, though the Crooked is all wild natives...just lots of them...

Im guessing this must be the Naples... the size being 50% larger seems about right... the material in the top fly is definitely not a flat thread... I bought Alec Jackson's #19 silk floss thinking that might have been the right stuff, but it was not the same.. I will try twisting a few strands of Go...

Spent a very nice day on the river with Roadkill today... I can report the Martini Flymph is a certified fish catcher... after several trout and a couple whitefish the fly looks as good as new, and the army blanket wool looks fabulous wet...Thanks Bill for the gift of the Martini and a great day of ...

The Crooked is a small tailwater here in Central Oregon... having lived in TX for a long time and fished the Guadalupe in the winter for those put and take trout...I had a lot to learn when I moved here. The Crooked River is a small fly fishery.... I usually fish 16-20's.. this week's working duo was the 16 hot spot, and a 20 starling hackle.... the trout ate the hot spot and whitefish the smaller.

Had two great days on the Crooked River yesterday and today...fished with a couple non-believers who haven't had the wet fly cool aid yet..Winter fishing on the Crooked can be testy... high wind yesterday, bright sun today, but the midges were hatching and the trout were rising to my little red bead...
