Re: Spencer

Mark,

"Orange Fish Hawk"

I always thought of the Fish Hawk as a brown bodied fly. Is there a common orange bodied version as well?

Ditto for Grip and some of the other European hooks. Kamasan and Black Magic are my staples. Plus older Mustads if ...

Re: Dying fur and feather

Eric Leiser's book "Flytying materials" has a comprehensive discussion on dyeing using Veniards and other dyes. And on bleaching. Also some interesting material on photo dyeing. Its a fairly intensive process. Not done it myself, but have seen the results and they were beautiful. The book ...

Re: GlassJet's flyfishwithme rip-off! ;)

Nice Glassjet.

Its the end of our season (30 April and its all over) and a later season hatch occurs in the afternoon. I'll whip up a couple of the first one in #16 this evening (I'll use Spur Winged Plover for the hackle) and see how it does tomorrow and/or Tuesday.....

Re: Feather cleaning?

If you use a hair dryer only use it on very warm or just blow so you don't singe the hackle.

indeedy! I should have mentioned that. "Warm" setting at the very most!

Re: Feather cleaning?
