Re: Stillwater Wets
I use my "Crunchy Damsel" on almost every stillwater outing...It rarely lets me down: http://gallery.flybc.ca/albums/album107/Crunchy_Damsel2.jpg Pattern here... along with a few very helpful suggestions I was fishing to rising fish with this pattern the Sunday before last, and managed a h...

Nicely done, Ray. Great technique and nice clear shots.

Re: Dye Job?
I'm not quite as exacting as my post might imply. When I look for materials I'm mostly looking for items based on functionality and not based on some desire to slavishly imitate a particular pattern (I do do this, but it's mostly for the masochistic pleasure of creating shadow box flies). If I want ...

Re: Dye Job?
Fluorescent colours are a bit hit and miss when it comes to material suppliers out there. I look for particular properties in the feathers and fur I use and I don't like to "make do" with substitutes. Not being able to examine the fur and feathers on line is a separate issue, but it also p...

Dye Job?
Anyone have a good source for (hopefully) easy to use fluorescent dyes? In particular I'm looking for "Sunburst" and any sort of red.
Thanks in advance,

Re: Swing not working
Not to drag this thread too far afield, but the spring here has been just awful. It's been one wave after another of heavy rain hitting the coast. My local creek needs a day to clear after a moderate rain and two to three after a heavy rain. For most of April the average period between heavy rain wa...

Re: Swing not working
John (et al.), I was out fishing a local creek this past Sunday--beautiful day, excellent water conditions, perfect for the soft hackle. I was working upstream and catching the odd fish fish with a small nymph fished deep, occasionally switching to an upstream "North Country" style present...

Re: "Soft-Hackled Fly Imitations", by Sylvester Nemes
This book is by far his best work based on what I've read. It straddles the line nicely between exact species imitation and the practicalities of tying soft-hackles. It is also the first which looks at design in a non-superficial way.

Re: Neme's PMD Spinner (repost from Cabin section)
Is this designed to fish as a dry or a drowned adult? It's meant to be fished "in the film" imitating a post-egg laying female or rarely a post copulating male--though I expect it would fish equally well just submerged under the surface. The muscles (?) normally holding the wings upright ...

Neme's PMD Spinner (repost from Cabin section)
------------------------------------ Note: This was posted previously in the Fishing Cabin Section under a swap post, but I thought it would be nice to have it in the "patterns" area. ------------------------------------ Neme's PMD Spinner http://gallery.flybc.ca/albums/album106/Nemes_PMD_...
