Re: Black
thank you DUBBN. there are a few guys on this forum that share their patterns with us that I keep going back to for inspiration. Those recipes, SBS videos, and images put together by folks like you, Ray, tie2fish, Roadkill, and many others require a lot of work. I'm a relative novice at this fly tyi...

Re: Black
DUBBN, I was strolling through the old posts and came across your squirrel belly variation posts, but the pictures have been lost to the forum...I had been trying to tie some Casual Dress but your flies just knock me out so I was hoping you could post a new picture of the squirrel belly....

Re: Slattery's Triple Threat
I had not really fished the Triple Threat very much until lately. Since I tied up the current batch, I've used it as the point fly on a two fly cast for my last three outings. The set up I've been using is a trout spey rig recently suggested in Fly Fisherman by Whitney Gould. It calls for putting a ...

Re: Slattery's Triple Threat
REE, thanks for the link to Jim's article. I had watched Han's video as a refresher, but I remembered that Jim used a dubbing loop instead of split thread. Mine were tied with the dubbing loop. Jim shared some of his green dubbing blend during my visit. I did have a little luck yesterday with the fl...

Re: Finicky grayling
the more I read about Grayling, the more I think about the Mountain Whitefish.... similar looking fish, minus the long fins... but the behavior, habits, etc sure seem similar to me..What say you OldHat... you know those whitefish intimately Im sure..

the Browns were playing nice
I've had a couple good sessions on the Middle Deschutes lately with some quill bodied spiders. I've been using various feathers and adding hackles of similar colors to the bodies. Really simple flies but have been producing some nice wild browns for this stretch of the river.

Slattery's Triple Threat
One of the highlights of my trip to Montana last summer was attending a tying session at Jim's place with Narcodog and Oldhat. I was a bit handicapped at that session as I was awaiting shoulder surgery and couldn't really manage to tie a fly. So ever since, I been trying to tie a decent Triple Threa...
