Thanks, Ray (letumgo) and Bill (tie2fish). I love tying these things. Soft hackles and flymphs are just somehow more gratifying to tie than any other style of fly. Not sure how that works.

Just tying for fun. Tail is from a scrap grouse feather, body is rabbit cheek dubbed split-thread style, hackle is quail.

I bought a couple of quail skins off eBay. Can anyone identify the kind of quail? They don’t look like bobwhites. Anyway, only tied a couple of flies, but my first impressions are positive. Well, the coloring is much lighter than I expected. But, the stems appear to be pretty durable. The barn count...
