Re: Pink ostrich?

I like it, Lance. I'd put that on the end of my tippet. I have read on other sites that pink is a good color to fish at times. (I just wish I could remember what those times were. ) I bought a Pink feather boa to tie flies with (Promise!!!), but haven't used it, yet. May have a chance this we...

Re: Red and Black

Nice pattern! I've never seen that shape hook before. Mean looking barb, too.

Re: Dust & Gold

As good a reason as any!
My little perchy friends (bream) seem to like a little "attention getter". I think this will find its way into a few patterns. It should prove very profitable. Thank you.

Re: Dust & Gold

Hans,
I'm going to ask, too. I'm curious as to what it is there to imitate? I've never seen it done before.

Re: Darn

Add a trailing shuck, and you have a "Shucky-Darn"!

I know, I know. "Go back to your corner. :x "

A good looking fly, and I really like that Brahma hackle.

Thanks a bunch.

Re: Moldy Plum Revisited

William - The resin penetrates the silk, causing it to darken, the same way water does. Your question has given me an idea. I wonder if Elmers glue could be used over the silk. It tends to brush on white, but dries clear. It may behave in the same way that color preserver fluid works for rod buildi...

Re: 4-14 through 4-19 opinions please

So, what do you use after you finish using a fly that small? How about an Altoid tin? My problem is remembering to open the tin, and dry them out once I get home. I would like to hear what you do for this. Thanks in advance. Kelly, The Altoid tin would work, just put a couple of packets of silica g...

Re: Olives

Given that the bugs aren't monochromatic, do you usually tie the thorax lighter, darker, or the same as the abdomen?
(I know, look at what is hatching, but I am curious to what you see the most of.)

Re: Cinnamon & Olive

This is the second time I've noticed the Glister material in the list. I love the look of that shine in the dubbing. I quickly figured out it was a Veniard product, and that it is difficult/impossible to find in the USA. Our cousins to the north have it, though. Great looking fly, Hans, as always. T...

Re: Scissors or knife?

Scissors in a small vee, kinda like the cutter on the bottom of the whip finisher. It will only cut something under tension, so it never cuts hackle barbs. As a matter of fact, I think I saw a video with the whip finisher that gave me the idea. After seeing the knife Pete Hidy used, I went and bough...
