Re: A new small stream rod...on the cheap.
Ron the 6'6" is indeed the 3wt. I have MUCH "nicer" and more expensive rods but I must say that yellow eagle claw I call the "mustard stick" is my favorite rod. Its what I do 90% of my fishing with! I bought it because I knew I wanted a glass 3wt but I was new to fly fishing...

@letumgo -ya me too....that Carl guy is a bad freaking influence hahaha! What I have an abundance of is #376 "ramen". Im not really a fan of the green paper but would love to trade. If not I'd be happy to sell you a spool for what I have in it. @willow -I've been getting mine off Amazon. I...

Kimono!
Hey guys. I finally got some kimono silk at the recommendation of you all and I am so pleased with it. In my opinion it I better than Pearsall's in every way. Smaller, more "silky", and you get way more of it. The colors aren't exact to the edmons and lee but who's to say that even matters...

Re: Hot Brown & Gray Hackle Peacocks
Man these "red tags" are always a good choice. One of those flies that if you don't know what else to try, it's a pretty safe bet it'll catch a fish. I like to tie mine with the standard tag of red silk floss over a gold or silver tinsel tag on the hook (whichever shows best on that partic...

Re: Kimono/Pearsall coordinated numbers
Hey guys. While looking around trying to find a source to buy kimono silk (other than superior threads) I came across some info that might be helpful. I always ask and hear people always ask "how does it compare to pearsalls"? And the answer is "well it's a little smaller, around 8/0&...

Re: Lindgren's Yellow Nymph
That abdomen is amazing! My buddy has a fly called the 2 cent caddis that is nothing more than a body of marabou. Tied at the tip and wrapped, the taper of the marabou gives an incredible chunky taper to the body. Well done sir

Re: Frank Sawyer's Nymphs
Also I find it pretty funny that sawyer seems to get all the credit for the PT nymph but openly admitted he wasn't the first to do it. Just the one who made it popular. The English version anyway.

Re: Frank Sawyer's Nymphs
DUBBN I actually agree too. I do like the the sawyer PT and have caught plenty of fish with it but that's not to say I think it's the best by any means. I LOVE the gray goose but I tie them with thread usually, unless I'm feeling nostalgic, and I think both need some dubbing or peacock or something ...

Re: Frank Sawyer's Nymphs
Bumping an old thread. I just love Mr.Sawyer! I love his simple and straight to the point approach. I've been on a real sawyer kick recently and have cross referenced several books reading all of his writings but it more or less all the same. I have a few questions I was hoping some of you experts c...
