Re: Dubbing
Sound post, Mike. Thanks for sharing. Stefan, my new favourite the swedish trapper at http://www.trappern.com (I wonder if it is from him Hans W. has received his hazel grouse?) I did indeed receive, and the feather used came from the sample. Thanks 8-) I believe you may have a typo in the url abov...

Re: Dubbing
Mike, Your point of view is very well expressed here, and considering your experience it is perfectly understandable. When I happened to meet Hans W. the other week, I had the opportunity to have a quick glance at the specific "argentinian hare dubbing". It seemed to be of a quality quite ...

Re: Dying furs
Mike, I followed your link and learned that even polypropylene could be dyed with turmeric. I remains to be seen how quickly the colour fades, but everything I have dyed with this spice has been a success. It would be interesting to try picric acid but I think I will buy the fur dyed. Have found sea...

Tying is soo easy.
I saw Hans W tying flies the other week. Or.....I saw him move his hands around his vise. No hooks were to be seen. Then I saw those test clips on the table, with fragments of fly tying material on them. I had to pick up a magnifier and yes, there they were; small pieces of art on hooks size twentye...

Scandinavian tenkara fishing.
It is quite interesting to read about this way of fishing with a fixed line length. It was a practised method of angling with a fly here in Sweden for hundreds of years. Some people suggest it was brought here by the Wallon iron workers, others believe that the vikings brought it home from Macedonia...

Re: For flymphs - the Mark Hidy way!
I will. I am beginning to like the looks of them, and fully understand the reasoning behind. It's just a question of what you feel comfortable with. Success has never been my ultimate goal. I'm in it for the cosy feeling.

Re: Different Color Mole Skins
As some of you have realized by now, I am mostly words (although some of them nice), and little practise. I laid my hands on this LAW ceramiscrape a few weeks ago, and it was a revelation. No more hacksaw for me. It is astonishing how easily you can separate the underfur from the guard hairs on diff...

Liam,
Could you please send me your vise. It is obvious that you will not need it anymore. Congrats.
