Nice. We have a nice little blowfly type pattern down here "Black Gnat Silver Twist" that I made a varient of: "Black Gnat Blue Twist". I'll post a pic sometime... Would love to see it. We really don't have any "blue" insects or even close resemblances here but that do...

Thanks Ray. I really like the Griffith's 14/0 and use it A LOT. It is nice and fine for the little stuff, and with a little patience you can split it to dub in that style. Very strong for the diameter. Griffith's and Pearsall's is about all I use even for my steelhead flies, unless I'm spinning hair...

Anyone know if there is a database of soft hackled flies around with patterns categorized by hackle type? I am specifically looking for patterns using plover. For a midge, I think I would try a red rear and black front with a badger or grizzly hackle. I would probably lesson the red to about 1/3 to 1/4 of the total body length. Maybe a little tinsel flash under the red? OK...off to the vise I go.
