You're right of course; from the perspective of a commercial tyer, it's better to waste a little thread than time. For a 12 year kid in 1964, whose only source of tying thread was mail order (or use sewing thread), the sight of six inches or so of thread going into the waste basket after every fly w...

It's a bit unclear how to interpret the chart. Items which either "match the hatch" or are debris will also fit into either the "less than 5mm" or "larger than 5mm" categories. Also, it could be argued that if an item didn't fall into the "match the hatch" cat...

A thumbtack in the edge of the table works nicely, too. You still waste a lot of thread without the bobbin holder.

.....personally i'd consider it "unfortunate" if these things bothered me more when i wasn't catching fish, then when i was. When i'm not catching fish.....it's usually because i'm so wraped up in simply enjoying the location, that "catching" is.......well, something unimportant...
