Nice!
I love the odd numbered hook size but, no FTD shuck yarn for the trailing shuck?? Don't tell the Dungeon master.
Great tie Ray, can't wait to see all the other PMD patterns in the swap.

Re: Building a soft yarn nymph body?
You could also try punch yarn, it's thin, with a wool like texture. I find it much easier to build a tapered body with, just vary the tension and build back and forth as necessary.

Re: Playing with PMD's
I really like the spider pattern, very unique. I'm also sympathetic to your dilemma, I just haven't found the right combination for my PMD submission either, tried a few combinations but haven't quite achieved what I envisioned! I guess I just need to take another trip to my local fly shop for that ...

Re: Clarks dubbing block
Ok, here's why I asked, while at Lowes looking at tile I came across white marble threshold strips. They are 2 1/4" wide and 36" long, and have a polished surface. I already own a tile saw, so cutting it to length is no problem. Marble can be drilled with a carbide bit so inserting a post ...

Re: Clarks dubbing block
Hi Chasecreek;
Yes, I have thin rectangular magnets inletted and epoxied to the side and end where the thread slits would be. I place the thread over the magnet then, place an additional magnet over the thread to hold the thread. More than enough tension to hold the thread in place.

Clarks dubbing block
Hi All; I've been using my dubbing block this winter and a few things about it that make me think it could be improved. One, why is it so wide? I think 2 inches width would be more than adequate. Two, why is it made of wood? A block made of a stone product would be heavy enough to keep it in place a...

Re: Wool
Hi Mike;
I think you show that wool is a forgotten material for most fly tiers. The evidence is overwhelming to say the least!
I know I and others here have rediscovered wool.
Thanks for sharing;

Re: Pale Morning Dun (Nemes)
This thread has brought back fond memories of meeting Mark at the SowBug roundup two years ago. I'm also reminded of the bugs bunny cartoon where daffy duck told bugs "whatever you do don't push the red button" I can just imagine Mark saying for some wool tups dubbing I'll trade you the bl...

Re: Wool
I think the reason you don't see wool as a commercial dubbing blend is two fold. One, it has too much of a blue collar image and two, anyone can easily make their own. That said, I really like using wool as a body material. My tie in the Tips swap used a wool yarn blend that Letumgo first posted her...

Re: Cased Grannom Killerbug Sekasa Kebari
I have the 10'3" Daiwa Soyokaze(no longer available) saw it at SowBug last year and had to have it. I found the intrigue and simplicity too much to pass up. I plan to use it as a small stream rod but didn't get a chance last year to try it. I did use it for gills on local pond and it was a blas...
