Re: La Peute (the Ugly) soft hackle dry

It can, but the translator uses the term "wet fly" consistently elsewhere in the book, and in this instance adds italics to moist.

Exactly. I thought they may have been searching memory for the word "damp" and could only remember "moist" -- they knew it wasn't quite right, but hoped the reader would get the idea.

I think the choice of words may have been deliberate. In my hardback copy of the book "moist" is set apart in italics, as though to say "fished in the film" rather than "sunken."

Some people recommend that you pinch with the middle finger instead of the index. That takes care of the "slightly toward me" part.

Looking good, though.

Re: Gray Nymph

I wonder why the recommendation only went down to 12? That could easily be tied in an 18 or 20 and would catch a lot of fish.

Good looking in any event.

Re: Discouraged

After I clip of the material for the wings I have a problem picking them up and lining them up without jacking them up. It's like my sausage fingers destroy them before I can get the tips lined up. There are several possible solutions to this: 1) Don't put them down in the first place. When you cut...
