Re: Tying a Black & Purple
I went to the shop and picked up a bag of purple ice dub. Dropped the black and used a wood duck flank feather instead. A big brown that broke the tippet before it made it to the net smashed it on the swing a few weeks ago.

Re: Scissor Recommedations
Hey Greg, hope all is well. I haven't been north but intend to get a trip going in the next few weeks or so. My son fished some small streams last weekend and had great time. I had a similar problem with the stems and now use a razor blade to get close. I was also wrapping the feather forwards on th...

Re: Saber Hooks?
Rodger, I think these were the "Swimmy" hooks you referred to. I believe that I received them from my sister and her daughters a year ago for a birthday or Christmas present. I haven't tried them on the water yet , but they seem to be nice enough. Not a heavy hook, so they should ride in t...

Re: Dubbing Block; Old Dog Learns New Trick
Ken, you are a natural! ...or it is that beautiful Oregon myrtle wood. :D I used to adjust the amounts of the dubbing as far as thickness on the strands, but I had always found myself picking out some fibers after attaching it to the hook shank and before wrapping the strand around the hook just as...
