Thread Keeper
I use Rite Bobbin holders. I usually leave a bobbin of thread in the bobbin holder when I'm done with my session. But there is a "tag" end of the thread. I tried using some small O-rings to hold the end but none ever worked well, including a Wapsi product, which was difficult to attach. Th...

Re: Tutorials & Step-by-Steps (SBS) Posts
Just an update. I was searching for the original ukflydressing article on dubbing, but all other links failed. For now, at least, this link works. A very comprehensive guide. https://www.elmerfishing.com/index.php/fly-tying/flytying-articles/315-the-complete-guide-to-dubbing?showall=1&limitstart...

Re: French silk thread
Does anyone know if the smaller "non-cone" Kimono Silk spools fit standard bobbins? I know that the cone spools are too big.

Re: French silk thread
Also, the Ephemera Floss spools have only 30m. The thread has 100m.

Re: French silk thread
IMG_4716.jpg From top to bottom, Ephemera Silk thread , Ephemera Silk floss , and Semperfli Silk thread. Grossly, you can see that the Ephemera Floss is thicker than the two threads. But you can cord it up so that it is about the same size as the Semperfli Pure Silk thread, when tied on the hook. I...

Re: French silk thread
https://flymphforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=9963#p111173 I tied the above using Ephemera floss. Silk does have a sheen that I really like. I don't think you can really compare the thickness of this floss with Pearsall's Gossamer thread. The floss is much thicker. Older posts here compare Pears...

Re: French silk thread
Hi DarrellP,
I went to the Feather-Craft.com site, and found the Ovale Ephemera Silk Floss. Is that what you're referring to?
Thanks, Dale

Norm, please keep posting. I enjoy looking at your flies. I doubt that the server is running out of room because of you. I don't think that Ron dislikes your posts. Besides, there is a "foe" function in the unlikely case that someone doesn't want to view what you tie. I must say, though, i...
