As per Atherton he tied this fly on hooks size 8,10,12 and 14.

The wet fly wings in his book extend to mid tail maybe a little further.And yes that was the standard wing length back then and now.

I struggled with it at first using Mylar tinsel. I could not get it. I had to use metal tinsel which I much prefer anyways. First thing on the hook is the peacock Herl tied off at the rear. My attempt at a Wynn's Orange Partridge. Lacking red tinsel I subbed silver.

Hook Daiichi 1480 size 12.
Silk. Orange 6a.
Body. Orange.
Hackle. Partridge dark.
Head. Peacock Herl.
Eyes. Tinsel metal.

I used Partridge and Blue spiders on the Henry's Fork last summer. Had some good hook ups. Figured the fish had never seen them.
