You know how sometimes you can read the thread title and just know you're going to like the fly?
I wasn't disappointed. Great fly.

Re: Pale Evening Dun
Have to agree with earlier comments. Looks like your father's fly to me.
My father was two years behind yours (born in 1916) and the Turle knot was the only one he ever used (and from the first time he ever took me fly fishing it was always with nylon tippet).

Re: Hackle Shortening SBS (Tutorial)
What a wonderful tutorial!
Very clear and the results speak for themselves.
I do have to admit, though, after step 5 I probably would have just wrapped the body and let it go at that.

Re: Bad Ass Kebari
Since "kebari" carries no gender connotation, I suppose it is much safer to say "bad ass" than "nice ass" but I'd have to agree with all earlier comments and add nic... bad ass!

Re: Tenkara Trauma (Sharing a Life Lesson)
Now, seems to me it might be easy to have a printed out A4 sheet, similar to your above "how to" included with each new rod that leaves the shop floor I can't speak for the other company, but I send out three sheets of "how to" with every rod that goes out the door. If anyone wo...

Re: Favorite Hooks
The two hooks that Gingerdun posted look like the Daiichi 1180 mini barb dry fly hook on top and the 1130 wide gap scud hook on the bottom. I'm pretty sure you can get the same hook for less from Jim's Fly Co.

Re: Hackles .... say "When!"
I doubt I would tie them quite that sparse, but I would certainly fish them with confidence.

Re: Picric and Black
Wow. It would almost be a shame to fish that fly. But I would. In an instant!

Re: Hackles .... say "When!"
I am sure you can have too much hackle. I am not sure you can have too little.
I think I may have posted this photo before (and in the same context), but this fly was still catching fish.
