Re: Leisenring Spider (SBS/Tutorial)

Hi Ray, Thanks for the explanation. Now this makes a lot of sense. I also like to keep traditions alive. Most of the stuff the guys back in the days came up with are solution oriented towards the goal of catching fish. This as well with the least amount of flies destroyed in the process I suppose. W...

Re: Leisenring Spider (SBS/Tutorial)

Hi,

Very nicely fine step by step. I just have a dumb question. Is there a particular reason to pre-fabricate the body as opposed to doing a dubbing loop or splitting the thread?

Cheers from Norway,

TZ

Re: which one where

Brilliant information everybody. I have started experimenting with these flies in "my" water, which is a slow flowing river between two lakes. So far I was not too successful with NC´s, but I somehow feel that my catch rate could improve with those type of flies as trout are often going af...

Re: Rena Caddis

Hi Barry, I hope I understood your question correctly. Fly size and weight dictates which line weight should be used. These flies are mostly tied on hooks ranging from 16 to 10 and are not weighted. So you can use anything from a 3wt to 6wt line, so any rod independent of material (bamboo, glass or ...

Re: Rena Caddis

Hi, as daring duffer also mentioned, the Rena river is in Norway, close to Elverum and it confluents with the Glomma river at the little town / village Rena. The proper name is Rena elva - elv meaning river in Norwegian. The river is dammed on both ends. It holds good stock of brown trout and grayli...

Re: which one where

Welcome aboard TZ. Can you tell us more about your leader set up. I’d like to hear more about it. Hi, yes of course. Basically it is a Ritz 60%/20%/20% adapted to longer rods. My theory back then was that Ritz had a good solution, but that it turned over too hard for longer rods. I thought and stil...

OK, I would have to catch a fish first to experience that .... :o

Re: which one where

Which ever pattern I have the most confidence in I place on the bottom. Furthest from the rod. Just for the reason I get fewer tangles in my setup when that is the hot pattern. I am sure there's some formulas for the "perfect" set up but I missed or ignored it when it was published. ;) :D...

which one where

Hi,

what's the general approach to fishing a set of three NC spiders. Say the Partridge & Orange, Dark Watchet, Spring Black. All size 14. Which one would you put where on the cast, and why?

Sorry off this has been asked before.

Cheers,
TZ
