Carl,
Very nice. Nice buggy, translucent appearing body, and the Plover matches the color well.

Just stunning. No other words seem to come to mind about this fly. Well done, Ray.

Re: Two more Spiders
Donald,
I prefer the 2d one myself, but you should let the fish decide. Looks like your getting your touch back, indeed.

Re: Leisenring March Brown Nymph
Donald,
Well done, my friend. After my cataract surgery, I'm lost without my magnifier for tying flies. I did have a really good pair of magnifying reading glasses, but the came up missing after tying at an Expo. If I can find another pair like them, I'll snatch them up in a second.

Re: partridge over tan
Both are great flies, but that 2d one really catches my eye. Very well tied.

Re: Pork and Hen 1550
Bill, I used the old blanket trick to gather a shopping bag full of quills from two dead porkies a couple of years ago. That's a lot of quills and I probably won't have to do it again in this lifetime. It could be that my two porkies weren't as "fresh" as yours, but the blanket worked just...

Re: Pork and Hen 1550
Bill, Are those the guard hairs (very long and thin, actual hair) or the quills (thicker, white, waxy and very sharp on one end). If your harvesting the quills try throwing an old blanket on the beasty. A lot of the quills will come off when you remove the blanket. Then you just remove them from the...

Re: Presentation Flies
Jim, It could be that they were a product of their time. Last weekend I ran into a cane rod maker with 39 years experience as a maker. No matter what taper, length or line weight you wanted, all of his rods were the same price. He only made one kind of rod, each one was the very best rod he could ma...
