Re: Just Starting - Hen Capes Brand/Type?

Welcome, Clemmy
All of the above are great choices. However if you just starting out I would recommend the Indian capes. You can get a lot more bang for your buck and if you look carefully, you can come across good deals on them on eBay and other such sites.
Good luck,
Dana

Re: I just learned something

Bob Both of your patterns look fine to me, but I know exactly what you mean with regard to using a certain hook to tie a certain pattern. For whatever reason if I don’t use the hook the pattern was taught on, they just don’t look 100% right! Most flymphs: Mustad 94842, Mustad 94863(1xl,1xf), Mustad ...

Thank for the tip! I’ve been looking for these ever since the shell no pest strips are no longer available.

REE

I have a bunch of Gutterman Silk, which looks very close to the size and color what you need. I’ll send some pictures tomorrow when I’m back on the tying room.

Re: Pale Morning flymph

Deadly pattern, nicely tied. One of my all-time favorites! Thanks Theroe. Very nice of you. What hook do you like for these ? Mustad 94842 and 94863, in sizes 12-14-16. Also like some old Partridge up eye round bend hooks I came across some years back. Edgar Sealy made a model 1034 up eye, I think....
