Although the site is still accessible, I believe that Mr. Jacobsen passed away quite a few years ago. For those interested in this famous Danish fly tyer / fisherman, here's the link:

Re: The Old Master
Rob Smith posted a good history about Pritt's "Old Master" in his Facebook page "The Spider & Soft Hackled Community", for those who might be interested in further information on this old dressing.

Re: English Partridge
I may have stated this in another posting and, if I did, please chalk it up to an old guy's bad memory. But, I've given up buying game bird hackles/ skins from any supplier other than from Steve Cooper at Cookshill. First of all, the selection and quality is outstanding while the service is even bet...

Re: Herbert Miner Hen Neck - Medium Brown Dun
Quite a few years ago, I bought a couple (actually SEVERAL) hen skins from Dave Roberts that had a dun color near the stem and various brown or goldish colored tips. In addition, I also bought a couple more that the dun color near the stem and dark reddish brown tips, which I call my "Fiery Mar...

First Time Out
Due to medical problems, haven't been able to get to a trout stream this season - until this past Wednesday afternoon. On several occasions in the past, when I purchased from Stateside suppliers, some of the under covert / underwing hackles (those with only a few hackles per wing) were missing...

Re: Partridge and Orange new school
Many years ago, somewhere in the 2007 time-frame (or before), a fiend in Europe sent me a pic of a Pheasant Tail & Partridge soft hackle that used a gold bead as the thorax. Since then, I've included the bead in many soft hackles including dressings with a thread, feather, dubbing ,etc. body. My...
