Re: Hare's Lug & Plover

I received Fogg's new book as a Christmas gift from my wife. Great book with lots and lots of history and background on similar patterns. Hi, I've read extracts on amazon and it does look very good. I have it on order from my local fly fishing shop, and the guy who owns that is mates with Roger Fog...

Hare's Lug & Plover

Back to learning the classics - or modern classics in this case. Hare's Lug & Plover http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4064/4346366847_543174cd38.jpg Don't go looking for this in Courtney Williams' dictionary... ;) This is Roger Fogg's modern classic. Details here, for those who don't know the stor...

Re: Old Pearsall's silk

I emailed John at Pearsall's, and also sent him these photos: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4049/4343891341_5c10931b68.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2526/4343893109_75afbe03b4.jpg He says he can't put a precise date to them yet, but he has some like it in their museum and will have a better lo...

Re: Glassjet's Glory! ;)

A beautiful fly, even if that wasn't the objective, and it's deadly-looking as a potential fish killer as well. Please let us know after the field tests. Thanks, I will - not least as i will feel honour-bound to Otter to do so... ;) as we both stalk our respective river-banks this next season, arme...

Glassjet's Glory! ;)

Well I did trail it! I've taken a break from learning to tie the classics, and I thought i'd have a play around at the tying bench, and this is the result. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2755/4338310305_280bdfbcaa.jpg What's in it: Hook: this is on a kamasan B405 #14 Thread: Pearsall's yellow ...

Re: William's Favourite

This book is not expensive at all. I bought mine on eBay for something like $12.00 plus shipping. The paper dust jacket has a small piece that was ripped off, and no-one else even bid on it. It's not on there all the time, but it does come up quite often during the year. Regards, Mark A superb book...

Re: Old Pearsall's silk

Thanks Mark, I'll email, and let you know what he says. :)I do have these dilemmas, whether to use old stuff, or retire them to ornament. I have an old hardy Jet midge rod, 6'3" (hence user-name!) that I picked up a few years ago. I fish with it practically every day in season, as it hangs tack...

Re: William's Favourite

Andrew, Would that be William as in William Lund the famous river keeper? Or am I missing something along the lines of the obvious say a more modern William? Dougsen the curious Hi Dougsden, My carefully considered answer is.... I don't know. ;) It says in the dictionary that the fly was first tied...
