Re: To Cane A Trout
I have 4 or 5 grahite rods and I do fish them but I also have 12+ bamboo rods that I also fish. Years ago, I found that I seem to have a better "feel / touch" when a trout first takes my fly on a bamboo rod and when landing the fish, I seem to feel more of the fish's "movements" ...

Re: Bloody William's Other Mate
The dressing for "Bloody William's Other Mate" was taken from pages 16 and 17 from T. Donald Overfield's book: "50 Favourite Wet Flies." Will have to dig out the book and take a couple pics.

Bloody William's Other Mate
Quite awhile back, I saw a pic of this dressing and the name got my attention - "Bloody William's Other Mate", so I had to tie a few. Don't remember if I still have them or fished them, but I got a chuckle when I saw the pic in my computer files.

Re: T E Pritt's Grannon or Greentail
Phil I have Ronald's book and will have to go through it and tie a few of his dressings. Are you tying the old dressings again at the January "Icebreaker" ? For years, I tied them at the Grand Rapids, MI "Celebration of Fly Tying" show in late February but the show was cancelled ...

Re: T E Pritt's Grannon or Greentail
Thanks guys for the compliments. The old dressings and books about the old dressings / flies / methods really get me going, especially the search for as many of the original materials as possible to attempt to duplicate the old dressings.

Re: Greensleeves (Pritt)
I'm so old that maybe "I saw" the originals being tied! Actually, I've been hackling my dressings with more than the current preference of some people to do sparsely hackled dressings. I was very pleased to see in Rob Smith's North Country Spiders book pics of flies dressed by the "Ol...

T E Pritt's Grannon or Greentail
Since I just posted a pic on my version of Pritt's Greensleeves dressing, I noticed that there was an old pic of Pritt's Grannon / Greentail in my files. (again, with my heavy hackles). From T.E. Pritt's book Yorkshire Trout Flies 33. GREENTAIL (Grannon Fly). HOOK – No. 1 WINGS – Hackled with a feat...

Re: Greensleeves (Pritt)
The way I slap the water when casting makes it necessary that I heavily hackle my dressings.
