Bill had the ticket.. my day was a little less exciting... but my eats were on soft hackles at least. We don't get on the water together often enough.

Re: Custom Leaders - My next adventure

I took Roadkill's suggestion and bought the Drag Fee Drift book. Definitely worth having if you want to tie your own leaders. It might be more useful to someone with Letemgo's mechanical mind to deal with the somewhat technical sections of the book. A fair amount of physics, math, etc in explaining ...

Re: Fishing wets over stocked trout - wingless 2:1

Well ,,they say the trout only feed on top about 10% of the time...so it stands to reason that things below or just below the surface are going to get a lot of attention...I'm often not sure how deep my soft hackles are when they are taken, but usually nearer the surface than the bottom for sure. Re: Master and pupil (John Shaner's Nail Knot Tutorial)

Thanks for pulling this out of the archives and assisting my foray into leader construction. etc. I have the Maxima materials that I lacked on order and will be diving in soon. John's method of creating the nail knot is not as difficult as it at first seemed. I found an interesting suggestion for cr...

Custom leaders redux

Hey Letumgo, my old boss said I was slow but trainable. After rereading your posts on custom leaders I was wondering what your experiences were and which formulas you found best for swinging wets. I've been making a few leaders for nymphing(shhhh don't tell anyone) but have the materials to make som...
