Re: Do trout eat carrots?
Cheers everyone, I had a lot of fun with this one. I'll let the trout or grayling be the judge of it's edibility on my next outing. ;) There are few things I'd change after looking at the photo's. For one I would taper the body a bit in the next fly and iron out some of the lumps in the body  ...

Re: Meat & Spuds kinda softie...
Thanks guys, glad you like my offering of meat & spuds.
Ray - That's high praise indeed coming from the man I consider the Yoda of soft hackles, and that's not because you've got big ears buddy.
Thanks mate, that really means a lot to me...

Meat & Spuds kinda softie...
Taking another break from competition ties today, cranked out a few softies, here's one... I'm living in London atm, travelling light so my photography setup is not that great. The results are reasonable but some of the details get lost. The colour of the ribbing on this fly looks really cool, it co...

Re: Peppermint Twist
Another exquisite tie my friend. I'm with tie2fish on the publishing front, it's only a matter of time. You should seriously consider a tying book, you've got oodles of talent mate, it would take pride and place in my tying library next to all the other greats past and present.

Re: Size 18 Claret Softie
Thanks for all your kind comments... Roadkill - Unfortunately things are getting a little breezy and cold in central London right now. There isn't anywhere close that I can give the little fella swim, something I plan to remedy in the near future ;) Hey Carl, good to hear from you my friend, I haven...

Re: Size 18 Claret Softie
Thanks guys, appreciate your comments :) Ray- Good to hear from you buddy, you've been posting some beautiful ties recently. I get the feeling I've seen a few of them before ;) I'll try to come through on the many more soft hackles in the future. The vise you ask about was a gift I received before I...

Size 18 Claret Softie
This is my first post since my intro, which was quite a while ago. Thanks to everyones advice and feedback on my first batches of flies, I think my soft hackles have improved ;) I tied this little guy to take a break from tying for a comp I'm entering. It was a refreshing excercise to get away from ...

Re: The smallest changes
Hi Dave, Nice sof-, nice we-, nice nym- ahhh I am so confused after that drawn out discussion ;) Great set of flies buddy, cool idea showing how dramatic such a subtle change can be. If I didn't know your tying abilities I'd have sworn someone photoshopped the difference, those flies are almost iden...
