What do you mean by "Heron substitute"? Is that the name of the material, or just a generic, "I substituted something for the heron the pattern called for"? I wouldn't worry too much about the color shift. I doubt any of us have color tuned our monitors. The change could be from ...

That is something I have been doing with all of my wire ribbed flies, even those with tails. I like the idea of the wink of something shiny at the back of the fly.DUBBN wrote:

Every year, in late march, early April, we get a termite and an ant hatch. The danged things fly everywhere. Guess what they look like?
