I've had good luck with my 10'6" 3wt by Cortland..their early version of the competition nymphing rod. I've managed some pretty decent fish on the rod. Best was probably a 17" rainbow on the canyon stretch of the Henry's Fork... guide was so impressed with the way the rod handled the fish,...

My 10' 6" Cortland 3wt with a 5wt single hand spey line by Rio gets used much like Dubbn. Fish it upstream with a variety of nymphing methods, depending on the river, then back down with soft hackles. I also have a 10" 4 wt Loomis rod that gets the same treatment on areas of the Deschutes....

Otto, I think I got it... tied this on a Firestick 633 size 16, Kimono silk #301, body a herl from a canada goose wing, with xsmall pearl tinsel rib( not visible in my pitiful photo). Hackle from a pheasant skin.

Thanks Otto.. I had been trying to get the same effect with the wing feathers from Canada Goose, and another unknown wing feather I picked up by the river. The barbs on the feathers I've been using aren't as long as the Myna. I have used peacock and can get close. I'm really looking forward to your ...
