Re: North Country spider article
Years ago, Andrew Herd had a web site called something like "A Fly FIshing History" and on the site he had bunch of videos on tying some of the old dressings. I can no longer find that site but, luckily, I was able (years ago) of downloading the videos. Some good info and some historical d...

Re: Daiichi Hooks - New stock
I've used vitually nothing except Daiichi hooks for many years. Am still using up a few Mustads that I've had for awhile but tend not to use too many of the Mustads. I think the Daiichi hooks are sharper and since I crush down the hook barbs before I tie any fly, the Daiichi's "crushed barbs&qu...

Re: Bronze Peacock & Young Starling
Most of the soft hackles I tie are on Daiichi #1550 hooks, #1530 if I want a slightly heavier hook.Fishnkilts wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 7:33 pm Those look really nice how the copper pop's out like it does. What hooks were you using?

Rabbit Dubbing
Awhile back, I saw a few old dressings that called for dyed rabbit fur and / or a mixture of rabbit fur with another material. I didn't find too many places that sold dyed rabbit dubbings, so I bought a bunch of various colored rabbit zonker strips, cut the fur off the strips and then blended them i...

Re: Arthur Cove's Nymphs
Is the orange pattern one of his too? I gotta pul out his book again, and study the patters again. I was always surprised by how far he tyed into the bend of the hook. It adds to the imitative quality of the flies, but made me wonder about the durability. Have you fished these much? I haven't fishe...

Black & "Fiery" Brown Furnace Hen
Several years ago, I bought this hen from Dave Roberts at The Feather Emporium. I liked it so much, that couole years ago when I stopped by his home, I bought another. I called it a "Black & Fiery Brown Furnace Hen" and love to use it with natural hare's ear or a reddish "March Br...
