Re: Landrail Sub

Carl ~

Veniard used to sell starling skins that had been bleached and then dyed a light brown as landrail sub. I used up all I had, but have purchased some bleached starling to try dying. I will send you some of the bleached starling if you would like it. Please PM me.

Re: Grateful Red Nymphs

Love the name! Would like to see what that thorax looks like in the UV spectrum as the fish would view it.

Re: Update on Pearsall's Gossamer

Major props for the charitable donation, Ken, although I can't figure why anyone would want Pearsall's Gossamer black that badly unless it is just to have it for a collection -- I've never been able to tie with that fragile stuff. :(

Re: More stuff

If you don't already have it, John, check out "Fishbugs" by Thomas Ames, Jr. This really is a special book IMO.

Re: Leisenring Flymphs

All spot on, Carl. You should do a frame or shadow box of this set when you finish the tying.

Birdnest from Doug

Attached to a birthday card I recently got from fellow member Doug Duvall (along with a couple other deliciously tied flies) was this superb rendition of Cal Bird's "Birdnest" pattern. Initially scorned as being "messy", this caddis pupa imitation has proved to be a killer patter...
