Re: French silk thread
Yes the semperfli pure silk is garbage in my opinion. It's quite large in diameter and just has a "scruffy" cheap feeling texture. Makes my skin crawl sliding trough my fingers. It's fine for spider bodies if you want a pretty fat little body but no good for spinning flymph bodies. Unless ...

Re: Greib Quill
Hahaha when I read the title I had to assume you had accidentally swatted a grieb during teal or wood duck season. Great looking fly

March Brown from the John Shaner fly wallet
I fell in love with the brown partridge winged March brown from the Shaner fly wallet post so I recreated a few for my box. Such a simple wing but deadly looking fly. I did the first one with hot orange Pearsall's but figured it was kind of pointless so I just did the others with orange thread. Hope...

Re: French silk thread
Does it seem to be about right? For me personally I don't care as much if the colors are matched perfectly. As long as it's close enough. What gets me is the actual size. The Japanese and English substitutes I've tried have been much larger. More like rod winding

Re: Uses for American possum
Very nice roadkill. Now I'm inspired! I'm thinking I need to go home and spin some bodies. The glossy clear/white possum on yellow thread with maybe a pinch of pink fox would make a nice sulphur body

Re: Carey Special
Another favorite fly of mine. They are so fun to tie and so versatile. In 14-10 they make a great dragon/damsel fly nymph. I tie them in about a 6 or 4 for farm pond bass. Sometimes I'll tie them with jungle cock eyes or even omit the hackle tail and tie in a red wool tag. Here is my rendition. I ho...
