Re: Bamboo rods for flymphs
I haven't read every post Wayne, but let me make a suggestion. You may have already started so in that case ignore my input but I recently cast a PHY Martha Maree. I know there are several versions and I cast two of them and both are really fine tapers for what I imagine you may have in mind. You ca...

Re: Black Caddis Patterns?
Have you been able to positively identify those as a caddis species? They appear almost smooth or shiny winged. I may be wrong but I recall caddis having a textured type of wing, a bit like a moth rather than a shiny smooth wing. Boris, Not to be pedantic but the answer lies in the Latin name for t...

Re: Preparing Bird Skins
Jeez, I thought you were using manuka bark prepared with rare kiwis secret ingredients, a kit makes it less Impressive!
yep, do a possum blow by blow.
Well the hides from the hares are perfect for all sorts of flies as there's fur from the whole skin to choose from.

Re: Preparing Bird Skins
Nice thread Cassidy. Love seeing home prepared stuff and methods.
Jeff,
if you show some of what you did with those hares we took a few summers ago that would a good example because the hides are fantastic. Not sure if you have the photos to go with it but I endorse your tanning skills!

Re: Patridge and Yellow
Bill,
I know 10% of zero regarding spider patterns, however, even my crude eye can appreciate that fly. But since you've added the information that you used your technique for larger partridge feathers makes it even more impressive.

Re: Hackle Shortening SBS (Tutorial)
Very cool indeed Bill. I can see myself using this technique. As someone mentioned, this will make many more feathers on my partridge skin more usable.
