DIY Pearsall's Thread spool adaptor
I've been wrestling with using pearsall's thread with the bobbins that I currently own. I looked online for a solution to my bobbin fitting the spool and saw a few ideas. This took about a half hr to complete and works pretty well. Thought I would share with the group. The material used is left over...

Re: Blue Winged Olive
Good call Mike, those are in fact Merganser hens. I'm not certain why those guys shoot those, but knowing them, they don't waste any meat. I was given a drake Merganser last year that had beautiful feathers. Truly beautiful bird. Cormorants are a protected species, not really certain why though. I p...

Re: Blue Winged Olive
I used to be into the name game - now, what’s on the water comes out of the box.........I USUALLY have a relatively good idea of what’s about to come off......if not, I sit back, light the pipe, and watch the water roll by.....always makes for a great day! I'm in the Theroe Camp really when it come...

Re: Blue Winged Olive
I should add that "Blue Winged Olive" is very subjective. We have many shapes, sizes, and color variations that we generically call Olives. This pattern is one that works during a certain time on a certain stream here in Michigan. It seems to check the boxes required while fishing it in th...

Re: Blue Winged Olive
Barry, I had great luck last spring with this fly fished upstream down to me in the film. Trout took it as an emerger. Super fine dry fly dubbing, gray uni thread and a dun hackle. Tied in 16 and 18.

Re: Red Fox Squirrel Hair Nymph
Mr. Doug, Those are great looking flies. I really like the abdomen and thorax. Would you care to share the recipe/ratio for the fur blend. I have the squirrel fur and possibly the antron or whatever you mix in to make this . Any insight to your concoction would be great.

Re: Red Fox Squirrel Hair Nymph
Dave, when you’ve dispatched the little bugger please send me a chunk of the hide! Yep, they have caused a lot of damage for me, not only chewing the computer wires in my car but loads of damage under the house ruining all the insulation. I shoot them all on sight. Here in Northern California I onl...
