Tiny soft hackles ala Syl Nemes
Hi All; I'm reading Sylvia Nemes' book "The soft hackle fly and tiny soft hackles" and he describes another method to use larger feathers to the tiny flies. "Build the body of your fly and create a bump of thread just behind hook eye, tie over length barbs cut from the stem pointing b...

Re: Gudebrod 00 & 0 silk thread
Hi Hank;
I think that's part of it but, I also think it's a darker shade to boot! I'm not even totally convinced it's wax. I also bought it to use for rod wraps but will have to test and see if it will take varnish.

Re: Gudebrod 00 & 0 silk thread
Hi all; Recieved my vintage Gudebrod silk 00 thread yesterdy, it came on 925 yard spools so wound some on thread bobbins using the Wife's sewing machine. Re: Abyss
Hi Carl;
I immediately thought of the movie "the abyss" thus being blue made sense for me.
Now, to plagiarize and copy in a similar silk color.

Re: Gudebrod 00 & 0 silk thread
Hi Bill;
Thanks, sounds like 00 would work well on smaller hooks. I purchased a couple spools and can't wait to try it out.
