Re: Pink thing...

Thanks for the comments guys :) Swellcat - I hear you and reckon you're right, thanks for the constructive feedback. ;) I've looked at the fly for a second time and the tags do seem tooo looong! I'll tie another fly when I get a chance and might just add a single or two turn tag before the quill bod...

Pink thing...

Playing around with ideas for the hot spot softies swap today. Came up with this pink thing, not sure how I feel about it. It might have something to do with the dyed peacock quill not being the nicest shade of pink. :? The thought behind the dual hot spot was to create some contrast between the pin...

Re: Purple Heart (Honorary Service Fly)

That's a stunning looking tie Ray, absolutely immaculate, you could micrometer the spacing on the ribbing it's so even!
Very cool and the significance behind it's inspiration make this a special fly. Thanks for sharing this one :)

Re: Catskill inspired...

Thanks guys :D Tie2fish - Your size 18-20# spring creek specials sound wicked, I'd love to see some if you get a chance. You say my fly looks more graceful (Doubtful, I've seen your ties), bearing in mind that mine are tied on a hook size 4X bigger than your 20's. Micro soft hackles sound like a gre...

Re: Fluro A#$*d BWO

DNicolson- Thanks for sharing one of your hot spot ties :D I love the idea of having the hot spot behind the hackle. I bet your fly would look irresistable when wet, the hackle vailing the bright hotspot a little and the nice contrast between the dark hackle and bright thorax highlight. Very cool. T...

Re: Catskill inspired...

Glad you like them folks :D
I've decided I love tying with peacock quill, don't know why I've never used it before.

Vicki
I hope you aren't suggesting dangling the soft hackle underneath one of the dry's aka New Zealand style? ;)
