Re: Early Black Stonefly nymph

We sure do and just last weekend saw them out. Both my versions have rubber legs. The other pattern I use is Pat's rubber leg in various sizes.

Re: squirrel collared nymphs

Ron,

Great ties and thanks for sharing. Do you fish those on the swing, dead drift, or both depending on the situation?

Never too early! Great ties. Did you use a resin on the bodies?

Re: Hare's ear soft hackle

Ron,

Yes, I used the original tag end of the thread base for the rib. A last moment idea.

Hare's ear soft hackle

This is a recent tie that I used right before the weather turned bad with good success on a local tailwater. I was swinging this fly with my 3 wt microspey rod.

Hook: #16 Mustad
Tail: Partridge
Ribbing: Crimson silk
Body: Natural hare's ear dubbing rope
Hackle: Partridge

Re: BWO

Ray,

I used Wonder Wax on those flies. Today, I took photos with a different light and hopefully it shows the colors of the first fly a bit better. They are not quite as dark as the first photo makes them out to be.

Re: BWO

I do tie on 18's and 20's and perhaps need to go back and try tying on them, see if I get more hook-ups
